About MENA

MENA is the Maine state council of the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA). We are a not-for-profit organization and our main purpose is education.

Our vision is to define the future of emergency nursing and emergency care through advocacy, expertise, innovation, and leadership.

Our members are employed in a variety of nursing roles: staff nurse, educators, nurse manager, and entrepreneur. They have a wide range of experiences and live throughout the state of Maine.

We sponsor four education days each year and try to move them throughout Maine. Our meetings are great opportunities to network with emergency nurses from around the state. We offer timely educational topics and attempt to strike a balance between clinical and professional issues. We obtain continuing educational contact hours from ENA.

We elect officers and board members every two years. The board meets an additional four times each year. All members are invited to attend any Board meeting.

MENA has become very active in the area of injury prevention (EN CARE) and we strive to take our message out to the community. Gun lock give-aways, fitting of child passenger safety seats, bike rodeos, and alcohol awareness presentations are some of our programs.
